Ferrari will be giving its 599XX its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show this week. The vehicle, which will be finished in a colour matching the F2008, is essentially a technological laboratory aimed at a select group of clients much like the FXX was, and will incorporate technological solutions being used for the first time and developed exclusively for the car.
The show will also premiere the Handling GT Evoluzione (HGTE) Package for the 599 GTB Fiorano, and items in the HGTE pack are stiffer springs, thicker anti-roll bars, a retuned exhaust system as well as new 20-inch wheels and a new front grille. The promise here is of course a sportier, more dynamic drive experience, and the vehicle on display at the show will feature a new three-layer metallic Rosso shade.
Bumblebee: The star Autobot reprises his role but unlike in the previous movie where he was based on the Camaro concept car, he's now sporting production model traits from the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro. Twenty-inch wheels and various SS model cues are donned by the 'bot. He's on display in Chicago as a 17-ft tall statue in Autobot form. Showed in Chicago Auto Show.
No more guessing. No more hype. No more waiting. At long last, Chevrolet has opened the doors to its feverishly awaited 2010 Camaro sport coupe, and we've enjoyed a thorough shakedown run (in a "99%" prototype).
Let's not keep you in suspense situation any longer. The envelope, please: Chevy's new two-door is...very, very good. At the risk of inducing insider trading, now would be a good time to sell any of your Mustang stock.
The 99% prototype is admittedly rough around the edges-awful paint, not all parts to production shape, some interior bits held in place with tape while engineers test final pieces -- but in terms of hardware it's a "nearly done" Camaro. With minor tweaks, this is the car you'll be able to get by March.
For this early drive, Chevy served up only the base, V-6 version of its new ponycar (V-8 drives will follow in about two months), but that quickly proved no disappointment. The headline news: The "base" engine is the same DOHC, 24-valve 3.6L V-6 that serves in the 2008 Motor Trend Car of the Year, the Cadillac CTS. Outfitted with variable valve timing and direct injection, this high-tech beauty will romp with more than 300 hp (final output is still TBD) and should deliver EPA city/highway fuel economy ratings of least 18/26 mpg -- though Chevy is aiming for 19/27 mpg.
The title of the world’s fastest car has always been up for grabs and will always be up for grabs. The Mclaren F1 held it for the longest time before the Bugatti Veyron came by and completely shattered the record and still holds it. Well, karmic forces are seemingly at work again and the Bugatti could just loose it’s record - to a virtually unknown competitor. More..
Audi hasn't transformed the R8 by adding a pair of cylinders. Not like Porsche transforms the 911 by adding a pair of turbos anyway. No, the R8 V10 is basically an R8 V8 that's faster, a little grippier, and better equipped.
Which means it's the perfect everyday-use supercar. A Gallardo (with which the Audi shares an engine) is too noisy to be more than a special-occasions car. And if ‘everyday' includes the British winter, well you won't want to be getting by on 2WD.
The 525bhp engine has an astonishing spread of power, pulling hard from low in the rev range and getting pregressively and implausibly stronger all the way to an 8,700rpm red-line.
And the magical, predictable, transparent handling of the V8 car isn't messed up by the extra power. This is a car that always seems to be on your side.
The launch price looks high, but at least it doesn't need any extras. The R Tronic and the carbon-ceramic brakes are both a waste of money unless you want to do track days. And actually this isn't a track-day car.
The only with transmission that will be available in the GT-R is a GR6 dual-clutch six-speed. The Nissan GT-R's powertrain is reportedly good for a zero to 60 time of 3.5 seconds, a quarter mile time of only 11.7 seconds and a top speed of 192 mph.
In addition, recent reports indicate the GT-R lapped the Nurburgring's Nordschleife in 7 min 35 seconds" placing it in some pretty elite company. That time trails the Pagani Zonda F by two seconds and the Koenigsegg CCR by one, but the GT-R lapped the track faster than a Mercedes SLR McLaren (7 min 40 sec), Porsche 911 Turbo (7 min 40 sec) and the Corvette Z06 (7 min 42 sec).
GT-R's hybrid body construction combines steel, carbon fiber and die-cast aluminum, and features a low coefficient of drag of 0.27, while achieving high front and rear downforce. =Autosaloon bring you to the limit
The souped-up hardtop version of the Z4, with the same 330 horsepower engine and suspension set-up of the Z4 M Roadster, is an unabashed track car. It makes no apologies for its hard ride, engine and tire noise, and lack of sound-proofing, but in return provides the Roundel enthusiast with a good basis for improving driving skills at BMW Car Club track events. -autosaloon.blogspot bring you to the limit.

It's slightly innocent demeanor makes it impossible to imagine the performance potential. The S203 is gloriously tuned by STI for impeccable driving attributes, and that is never a bad thing.
The realm of high performance cars must be one of the most demanding of all, other that the more obvious reasons that is. For the manufacturers, their reliance on pleasing the enthusiast drivers means that in no way can a competitor have a product that is better than theirs. If someone comes out with another upgrade to bump its' horsepower just a mere 10 horses, you can bet your behind that the competitor will suddenly come out with something to better that. In some ways, their motorsport guys are a bit attention crazy.
But let's not make you presume that i am actually complaining. No, far from that. Had things been more innocent or uncompetitive, we'd probably still think that 200 hp is more than enough. And nothing personifies this war on performance vehicles more than the friendly rivalry between Subaru Imprezas and Mitsubishi Evolutions. Based on the motorsports where both shine the most, which is along forest trails, icy routes or even dusty roads all over the world in World Rally Championship races, they have enjoyed almost equal glory time at one point or another. Having said that, it is interesting to note that both camps have had a drop in performance these past couple of years and although the respective manufacturers have every right to be frustrated, at least their reputation is sealed thanks to the street credentials and history.
It comes to no surprise that both models are a struggle between which has more power and superior handling. Newer better versions are at worst just a year apart between the two. As for myself, i am still undecided on which do i like most. Though the Mitsu is better when it comes to aftermaket upgrade availability (and relatively cheap), the Scooby's boxer engine is addictive. Apart from that, the former is just too common while the latter is only still coming up. Which brings us to the Impreza here.
Being Hypertune, this is of course no ordinary Impreza. It's loaded with Subaru Technica International's products. And for most of us, if it's rich with STI parts like this one here, it means that the car is part of the S series. True, the S203 is a wildcat that needs little introduction. It is ironic though that information on the web is contradicting based on the sources as if indicating that this is one monster that's better to be driven rather than concentrating too much on the technicalities. For comparison purposes, Mitsubishi's equivalent to the S Series would probably be their FQs or to some extent their RS version.

Since their first appearance in 1996, the compact SLK Roadsters have come to symbolise Mercedes-Benz' dynamic brand image. Already a familiar sight on our roads, the second-generation two-seater is to be further enhanced with the implementation of a raft of measures in 2008, the aim being to further emphasise the car's sporty character and continue the SLK-Class success story by introducing new, dynamic, powerful elements.

• 4.6-liter, 3-valve V8 • 315 horsepower at 6,000 rpm • 325 pound-feet of torque at 4,250 rpm • Engine calibration is designed to increase throttle response for a snappier feel on acceleration • Gears are selected via a Tremac 5-speed manual transmission designed specifically for the 2008 Bullitt • Features first open-element air filter in a factory-produced, fuel-injected Mustang • Intake is tucked neatly behind the driver-side headlamp, mounted in an air box that was tooled up specifically for the Mustang • Hood liner was extensively modified to provide a full seal to the air box ensuring that the engine is fed a steady diet of cool air • Engine further enhanced by adaptive spark ignition system, new for the 2008 Mustang • Ford recommends premium fuel for optimum performance, but the adaptive spark ignition will adjust the spark to burn regular fuel without damaging the engine • The custom-designed exhaust system continues Mustang’s traditional use of a true dual exhaust system with a new H-pipe specifically developed for Bullitt • All-new mufflers featuring larger 3.5-inch chrome tips are tuned to minimize backpressure, maximize horsepower and provide the Bullitt with its powerful exhaust note.
For the high-performance versions of the Impreza, see Subaru Impreza WRX and Subaru The Subaru Impreza is a compact car that was first introduced by Subaru in 1993. "Impreza" is a coined word, deriving from an originally Italian word, impresa, meaning a feat or achievement. In Polish, "Impreza" means "party", "event" or "show". The Impreza was introduced after the popular Leone/Loyale was cancelled with the aging EA series engine. The Impreza was introduced with the popular EJ series engine found in the larger Subaru Legacy. The Impreza was introduced as an updated competitor to other Asian vehicles Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, Nissan Sentra, Mitsubishi Lancer and Mazda 323, however the Impreza is the only vehicle in this class to offer AWD and Subaru made this feature standard equipment in 1996, a distinction that is still unique to this day. Subaru chose to continue their longstanding traditional use of the boxer engine in the Impreza, as well as their other products, to simplify the powertrain implementation of all wheel drive and because of the natural smoothness of the engine design. According to Subaru, because the engine sits inline with the transmission, instead of being offset, as can be commonly found by other FWD and AWD vehicles, body roll is minimized. The weight of the engine and transmission are balanced instead of being offset, which causes the weight of the engine and transmission to be unbalanced in the engine bay in other vehicles. The boxer engine also affords a low center of gravity because the engine sits low in the engine bay and close to the ground, as opposed to other vehicles, allowing the vehicle to stay more stable in moderate to high speed maneuvers. Other manufacturers attempt to counteract the offset weight by making their powertrains weight evenly distributed, which overall causes the powertrain to be heavier than the Subaru layout, which is lightweight from the beginning, having being manufactured from aluminum. The boxer design also provides perfect vibration mitigation due to the fact that the movement of each piston is exactly countered by the corresponding piston in the opposing cylinder bank, eliminating the need for a harmonic balancer attached to the front of the engine at the crankshaft. Torque steer is also reduced with this type of powertrain layout. This is achieved by having the front driveshafts being of equal weight and length, and extend from the transmission to the front wheels at almost perpendicular from the transmission.

The 2-seat coupe is already available in Europe and will be made available to the U.S. in the summer of 2008. In addition, an open-top, Porsche Carrera GT-like model will follow in 2009. Many publications were hailing it as the first car to truly be able to beat Porsche - considered by many to be one of the best sports cars ever made and the leader in its class. Initial comparison tests have proven quite positive in this respect; Evo Magazine in its comparison test between the R8, 911 Carrera 4S, Aston Martin V8 Vantage and BMW M6 have claimed that the Audi is a better sportscar saying that "Audi humbles Porsche. A new dawn starts today. Other publications have also made similar reviews of the Audi beating the Porsche in comparison tests. Regardless of those comparisons, it is concluded that "the 911 C4S is, quite simply, the most complete, cost-effective supercar on the planet". While the R8 does do well for a car that costs $118,000 MSRP (Audi of America does not allow Dealer markup) versus a $98,000 911 C4S, when pitted against the Porsche 911 Turbo ($122,000), it is absolutely trounced.
Dodge today revealed the new Viper SRT10 ACR ahead of its LA Auto Show debut next week. The Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR, short for American Club Racer, is the latest addition to the SRT family by Dodge. Engineered to dominate the race track, the SRT10 ACR is also street legal with its massive 600 horsepower engine.
Powered by an 8.4-liter aluminum V10 engine the car produces 560 lb-ft. of torque. The engine is mated with the new Tremec T56 six-speed manual transmission known as the TR6060. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a GKN ViscoLok speed-sensing limited-slip differential.
