First staged in 1901, the Chicago Auto Saloon is the largest auto show in North America and has been held more times than any other auto exposition on the continent. 2007 marks the 100th edition of the Chicago Auto Saloon, giving it the distinction of being the first North American auto show to reach 100 shows. The Chicago Automobile Trade Association (CATA), the nation's oldest and largest metropolitan dealer organization as a producer for 2008 ChicagoAuto saloon. The CATA has produced the show since 1935.

The concept signals the switch to rear-wheel drive for the Coupe, known as Tiburon in the States. It’s just been unveiled at the LA Auto Show and will go on sale in the US in the spring of 2009, though the car has already been scooped undisguised in customer clinics, and we’ve spied it with our own cameras in production-ready form.
The good news is this latest, rear-drive iteration of the Coupe is also coming to the UK. So it could be adding sharper dynamics to the Coupe's recipe of Italianate looks and bargain prices.

The Subaru Impreza is a compact car that was first introduced by Subaru in 1993.
"Impreza" is a coined word, deriving from an originally Italian word, impresa, meaning a feat or achievement. In Polish, "Impreza" means "party", "event" or "show".
The Impreza was introduced after the popular Leone/Loyale was cancelled with the aging EA series engine. The Impreza was introduced with the popular EJ series engine found in the larger Subaru Legacy.
The Impreza was introduced as an updated competitor to other Asian vehicles Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, Nissan Sentra, Mitsubishi Lancer and Mazda 323, however the Impreza is the only vehicle in this class to offer AWD and Subaru made this feature standard equipment in 1996, a distinction that is still unique to this day.
Subaru chose to continue their longstanding traditional use of the boxer engine in the Impreza, as well as their other products, to simplify the powertrain implementation of all wheel drive and because of the natural smoothness of the engine design. According to Subaru, because the engine sits inline with the transmission, instead of being offset, as can be commonly found by other FWD and AWD vehicles, body roll is minimized. The weight of the engine and transmission are balanced instead of being offset, which causes the weight of the engine and transmission to be unbalanced in the engine bay in other vehicles. The boxer engine also affords a low center of gravity because the engine sits low in the engine bay and close to the ground, as opposed to other vehicles, allowing the vehicle to stay more stable in moderate to high speed maneuvers. Other manufacturers attempt to counteract the offset weight by making their powertrains weight evenly distributed, which overall causes the powertrain to be heavier than the Subaru layout, which is lightweight from the beginning, having being manufactured from aluminum. The boxer design also provides perfect vibration mitigation due to the fact that the movement of each piston is exactly countered by the corresponding piston in the opposing cylinder bank, eliminating the need for a harmonic balancer attached to the front of the engine at the crankshaft. Torque steer is also reduced with this type of powertrain layout. This is achieved by having the front driveshafts being of equal weight and length, and extend from the transmission to the front wheels at almost perpendicular from the transmission.

Petrol prices keep climbing all over the world

PETROL prices have soared to a five-month high, with unleaded fuel set to climb above 140c a litre this weekend.
Unleaded fuel is about 20c more a litre than it was at the same time last year.
The rising cost is expected to put the bite on local tourism as cash-strapped families steer clear of driving holidays.
Martin Arnold, an economist at CommSec, said petrol prices had hit an average of 131c a litre and could rise in the next few weeks because of a tight oil market.
"They've hit fresh five-month highs and it looks like they will go higher over the next month or so, into the holiday season," he said.
Mr Arnold said the increase in the cost of unleaded fuel had added an average of $15 a month to a family budget.
RACV spokesman David Cumming said unleaded petrol hit 139.9c a litre in Melbourne last week, equalling the record prices reached last year.
"In view of the fact that the wholesale price has gone up since we hit 139.9, we could go over 140c this weekend."
Mr Cumming said people could change their holiday plans because of fuel prices.
"There is no doubt that tourism will be impacted," he said.

Volkswagen said Tuesday its talks with the Kuala Lumpur government on taking a stake in Malaysian car manufacturer Proton had collapsed and the German company would seek other ways to boost sales in Southeast Asia. After earlier fruitless contacts, the two sides resumed negotiating and spent several months discussing terms for Volkswagen either to obtain equity in or cooperate with the struggling factory, which was originally set up by Kuala Lumpur as a prestige project. A statement from Volkswagen offices in Wolfsburg, Germany, said both sides had decided not to pursue their talks with one another for the time being.

It said Volkswagen would review other means to boost its Southeast Asian business and would further step up its sales operation in the region. The objective remained to establish both factory capacity and a distribution network for long-term success in Southeast Asia. Volkswagen, Europe's top maker of volume cars, is undergoing rapid change as sports car manufacturer Porsche, its principal shareholder, brings the bigger company under tighter control. There have been unconfirmed news reports that Porsche aims to cancel unpromising projects at the group, which sells cars under the Volkswagen, Audi, Seat and Skoda brands. -Autosaloon bring you to the limit

The 2-seat coupe is already available in Europe and will be made available to the U.S. in the summer of 2008. In addition, an open-top, Porsche Carrera GT-like model will follow in 2009.
Many publications were hailing it as the first car to truly be able to beat Porsche - considered by many to be one of the best sports cars ever made and the leader in its class. Initial comparison tests have proven quite positive in this respect; Evo Magazine in its comparison test between the R8, 911 Carrera 4S, Aston Martin V8 Vantage and BMW M6 have claimed that the Audi is a better sportscar saying that "Audi humbles Porsche. A new dawn starts today. Other publications have also made similar reviews of the Audi beating the Porsche in comparison tests.
Regardless of those comparisons, it is concluded that "the 911 C4S is, quite simply, the most complete, cost-effective supercar on the planet". While the R8 does do well for a car that costs $118,000 MSRP (Audi of America does not allow Dealer markup) versus a $98,000 911 C4S, when pitted against the Porsche 911 Turbo ($122,000), it is absolutely trounced.

2008 Viper SRT10 ACR

Dodge today revealed the new Viper SRT10 ACR ahead of its LA Auto Show debut next week. The Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR, short for American Club Racer, is the latest addition to the SRT family by Dodge. Engineered to dominate the race track, the SRT10 ACR is also street legal with its massive 600 horsepower engine.

Powered by an 8.4-liter aluminum V10 engine the car produces 560 lb-ft. of torque. The engine is mated with the new Tremec T56 six-speed manual transmission known as the TR6060. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a GKN ViscoLok speed-sensing limited-slip differential.

APEXi Turbo kit

The AX turbo kits are a factory replacement style turbo kit. All of the turbos are manufactured by IHI under A'PEXi engineering specs. The AX turbo incorporates the AIRICK system. The AIRICK system incorporates a patented material in between the compressor housing and the compressor blade. The insertion of this material allows near 0 clearance between the blade and housing improving compressor efficiency by almost 5-6% all across the board. AIRICK also lowers compressor outlet temperatures under high load by 50-68 degrees F. This not only improves overall maximum output, but improves the boost response right before the intercept point of the turbine.
AX turbos come with a high precision internal wastegate actuator for quick and stable boost control. The actuator rod is adjustable allowing the user to preset the wastegate to suit a variety of driving styles.
AX turbos come in three main variations. Each model is available in various exhaust housing trims.
AX53B60 and AX53B70 These are the same turbos utilized in our 600 HP twin turbo Drag Integra. This series can be found on our Honda and Skyline GTR ( twin configuration) turbo kits. These turbos are designed for rapid spool up, extreme efficiency, and low to mid range power bands. Turbo capacity ranges from 300HP for the B60 and up to 600HP for the B70 depending upon application. These turbos are also ideal for twin turbo replacement configurations.

Over the years, the Stream has also accumulated a string of award accolades in the Southeast Asia region, ranging from the Best MPV, 2002 (Straits Times Life Motoring, Singapore); Car of the Year, 2003 (New Straits Times MasterCard, Malaysia – Mid MPV Category); to Best MPV 2003 and Indonesia Car of the Year, Best Mini MPV, Best Compact MPV 2004 (Mobil Motor Magazine, Indonesia).The spanking new generation Stream made its debut in Japan last July and 70,000 units already have been sold as of September 2007.

It boasts a series of improvement from the previous generation stemming from Honda’s renowned innovations and craftsmanship. After Japan, it was progressively launched in Singapore, Hong Kong and Macau, and has so far been well received. Honda Malaysia is expecting similar response and take-up from local customers.
